If you were consistently rejected for what's perceived as "better" and your irrational female ego constantly took hits, you'd "grumble" too. Anybody else would change what they could to be more desirable, but again, that's where that "irrationality" comes in

I was never considered hot or desirable growing up. I didn't play any jock sports, rode a skateboard and played role-playing games. I was like the black kid on Stranger Things, lol. Yet, I never got angry about not being liked. After a few abortive attempts at being cool, I made peace with myself and kept stepping, and I never got angry at someone for choosing someone else. I dunno, I guess that always seemed whack to me.

Everyone isn't as even-keeled as you :D We're also talking about women who overall have a hard time with rejection

Of course. They can fall onto the fainting couch over their favorite white knights, but if a black man is in the same picture as a white woman, all hell breaks loose
