It worked mainly because we had a president who played directly into it: being a childlike, mentally unstable narcissist made that easy. Chaos benefitted him because it was easier than taking accountability for his fuckups.

When there's an actual adult in the White House who takes the job seriously and doesn't treat it like another season of a shirt reality show? Things tend to be much different, and much more steady as a result.

I think that the next Democratic candidate should just go full out for the left. No matter what, the GOP is gonna call them a socialist. Might as well run with it!

They no longer have a choice but to do that after today. We got Trump as backlash to Obama being president for 8 years and we now have the first biracial woman as vice president. Ain't no going back to the long standing formula of old moderate white dudes as president. Floodgates are now open and the younger generations have seen how past generations have dropped the ball on a lot of shit. And they aren't trying to have a repeat of Trump if they have a say about it.

Even though the strategy worked this time (barley) it's still a bad idea, because of its history of failure in previous elections. If the Democrats want to stay in power they need to remember the lessons learned from Obama's election and nominate a candidate that the people are passionately enthusiastic about.

At least he knew he was running for President.

Yet, he is about as articulate as a 5 year old, and acts just as immature. There's someone to look up to.

You don't have to like the guy, I don't, but you could acknowledge the good he has done for this country and around the world. I wish someone would have taken his Twitter account away when he was elected, but alas, it's too late for that now.

He is someone you can look up to, if you acknowledge his good deeds as president. But, I know that's way too difficult for too many on the left who would rather just repeat the "Orange Man Bad" mantra and not give him credit where credit is due. We entered exactly zero new wars. We left the crappy Paris Climate agreement that was going to cost us the most and there is actually NO accountability for any of these countries to actually do anything. We left other bad trade deals that were costing our country way too much. He acknowledged Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Record peace deals were brokered under his watch. North Korea has been pretty silent under his watch. Minorities enjoyed the lowest unemployment rate in 60(?) years. I could go on, but I know my typing is wasted here.

You all are zombies just repeating "orange man bad". That's literally all you can say.

My daughter read a tweet from someone today that said: I'm not a fan of Trump's, but these last 4 years were the most peaceful for this country and the world.

Exactly. You don't have to like the guy, but ignoring the good is immature.

Now, the old guard is back. Congrats. "Normalcy" is back, right? What is normalcy? If you go back to just the last 3 presidents before Trump, it's meant endless wars, millions of innocent lives lost, drone strikes that killed innocent people, high taxes, high gas prices, bad trade deals.

Gosh, I can't wait for that all to return.

As of January 22nd, I expect zero COVID deaths, because this was all Trump's fault. And Biden has a plan. Shutting down the economy again? That's probably his plan. Endless wearing of masks and the loss of countless more small and large businesses. People will be losing their homes (another massive shutdown could mean the end of me owning my own home). So, yeah, Biden is the answer to COVID and I can't wait to celebrate no new COVID deaths under his watch.

I also literally can't wait to see which country we exert our dominance over. Syria is sooooooo 4 years ago. Someone said it will likely be Iran. Because destabilizing Iraq and Libya has worked out soooooooooooo well.

If you don't think Biden will instigate a war, you haven't been paying attention to the Military Industrial Complex and you're living in a fantasy land.

You all are acting like it'll be sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns when Biden takes office. I feel sorry for you. This country is finished and will not unite under him or Harris.

But, yeah, America will get its first female president. And a BLACK woman to boot. That's worth everything we're about to lose. Or not.

    A couple of notes:

Starting wars is America's favorite past time it belongs to no particular party.

Harris isn't a black woman (half Indian and half Jamaican) and if you've noticed black people aren't celebrating for her, most of us don't particularly like or trust her. Kamala is not a champion for black folks, she is on that Hillary Clinton "I am woman hear me roar" trajectory.

Nobody thinks Joe Biden is bringing a new golden age with him, the celebration isn't for Biden's victory, people are celebrating Trump's defeat.

"This country is finished" ok sure, but hyperbolic silliness aside, do you really believe that Trump was the only thing holding this country together?

When I said the country is finished, I meant there will be no unity. Look at what's happened to families and friends because people (mostly on the Left) cannot separate politics from people. If you think things will get even slightly better under Biden, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

I don't foresee this country moving forward anytime soon.

And that is why I feel sorry for all of Biden's voters. You all hated Trump so much, you ushered in a new (old) era of endless war, etc.

And yes, I specifically included W in there for that very reason and why I called it the Military Industrial Complex. Whoever is in office starts a war or multiple wars to keep the "good old boys" rich off of the blood of our military. When John Kerry was Secretary of State he is on record (you can watch the video) as saying our military was for hire for any country that wanted to hire us.

And I really don't care what color, what ethnicity that condescending (excuse me, I'm talking) bitch is, she will be a disaster when she assumes the presidency within a year.

I didn't want Hillary to go down as the first female president and I'm even more pissed off it will be Kamala Harris.

Tulsi Gabbard would have been a godsend.

    A few more notes:

Biden is a tourniquet, to stop the country from hemorrhaging anymore under Trump's ineffectual leadership, no more, no less.

Do you realize that Trump's defeat was celebrated in other democratic countries? There were fireworks in London and bells ringing in Paris. Trump was so disliked that even outside the United States his defeat was cause for celebration for people who don't have jack shit to do with American politics. Let that sink in for a minute.

C'mon now all politics are personal, left, right, or center there is no separation from the people because the personal desires and needs of the people are what politics are all about.

I'm no fan of Kamala and I think she is very vulnerable to a head to head defeat when she runs after Biden, because her entire reason to exist as a politician is her gender and her ethnicity.

As for the country not unifying........yeah you're probably right, but Biden was not the person doing everything he could to exploit wedge issues over the last four years to drive Americans even further apart than they were under Obama. That was Trump and if he was re-elected America was going to stay divided and he wouldn't have had it any other way.

That's your rebuttal? You'd rather have someone who listens to no one and thinks he's smarter than everyone leading this country through a pandemic and depression?
At least Joe will let experts work and get this country back on track.
I will never understand the thrall Trump has on you people

If that's true why did Dems lose seats and lose to frickin Susan Collins for the Senate? We better autopsy this election correctly or the next Republican president will make us long for the Trump years. Neoliberalism won the day because it was up against the worst president in modern history with an insane unemployment rate and a pandemic killing a quarter million people in the US alone. There is no way this race should have been so tight. Either we actually listen to what people want or....

Unelectable? Klobuchar and Mayor Pete had to drop out and endorse Biden for him to win. Bernie had them all running scared let's not rewrite history. A populist message works we can't ignore that

If Kamala isn't black than neither was Malcolm X bruh
She was born and raised here how is she any less black than you are? We definitely weren't saying this bs when it was Obama who was half white and raised by white people.

Book people are divided because Republicans in general and those who support Trump in particular are fucking Nazi sympathizers. You either support racism directly or indirectly. The abject terror people of color specifically black and brown people have had to live under for four years was nerve wrecking. It's never been a picnic for us in this country but under Trump we had to see coworkers people we thought were friends and even family support a man who sided with the brutalization and abuse of people who looked like us. How are we unified under someone who is followed by neo Nazi hate groups? What neighborhood what room would my family be safe in if these are kinds of people who are attracted by his rhetoric?

    You're so full of shit.
He has advisors, and he's 8/10 taken their advice.

On covid, even Fauci said the same.

He is also KNOWN to bring in exoerts and voices to LISTEN to them.
Many people have said they were shocked when the POTUS invited them to have a discussion on issues or plans.
