You constantly assert that all men oppress women. Its a male problem we go out there and make life difficult for women. If we were as bad as you say life would be nothing but rape and beatings but its no where close to that. Most men in fact the vast majority of men are really good guys. All they want to do is take care of their families and be law abiding citizens.
Do me a favor give me an example of one society that treats women the way you believe that should be treated.

Compassion for others is part of equality. Selfishness will never do anything other than hurt. Thinking for a moment before making a callous comment is showing respect- respect, to me, is part of equality. Even if we aren't made equal (i.e. one person is a genius, the other isn't), what is to stop someone from treating someone else as if they matter as much as the next person?

I'll tell you what- our own views on our own superiority. Our own selfishness. It takes nothing..NOTHING...to stop and think about the impact of your actions on others before you do something.

I speak my mind and experiences because they're valid experiences. And I'm sorry, since when is surviving rape and domestic violence not 'strong' enough for you? Not that it needs to be, because I'm plenty fucking strong and I certainly don't need your lame-ass approval on the subject.

Pretty sure everyone knows what I've been through and I'll continue to write articles, post on my blog and let the world know about it. After I did a feature on a news show here I was told one woman came forward to report her rape and cited me as the reason why. Knowing that speaking out against sexual violence and my own experiences with it helped just that one person is enough. Call it whining, but what H and I speak out about is important - we are real survivors and we want to change the way sexual violence against women is just brushed under the carpet, dismissed and doubted. DK, I have encountered people like you a lot in life but I don't let them stop me from trying to change the world. I'll continue to whine until women are no longer exploited.

So are you trying to say rape isn't as 'bad' as the other examples of survivors you've given? Oh, wow. Guess it isn't a big deal that I have PTSD, that my vagina had to be stitched up from being torn open, that I am forever haunted by that day. No biggie. I should just get on with it. And again context is completely wasted. Wasn't talking about you or your situation. I have never come close to saying rape was whining, I have never once came close to saying domestic violence is whining, what I did say was that men are painted as villains when its not close to being all men. There are shitty people who kill,steal, molest, and rape but its not everyone and I'm sick of being lumped in with them. I have never once in my life ever been close to being like that so when I decide to stand up for myself I don't appreciate it being twisted into some type advocacy for rape and violence. You all know way better than that. Shame on you.

I just had one of the worst lunches in recent memories.

My (male) coworkers and I decided to try the Tilted Kilt Restaurant that just opened up by our work. I've been to Hooters before with them and it was fine.

But this was possibly the worst lunch ever. Besides the fact that I felt fat and that I was a genius, the food sucked. They got all of our meals wrong in one way or another, but not one of the men complained about it. LOL.

The conversation was very stimulating: it consisted of all of them deciding which girl was the "best one". I updated Facebook and finished my Scrabble game on my phone during lunch.

Then our waitress, who was about as smart as a box of rocks, asked me more than once what kind of dressing I wanted on my chicken ceasar salad. Are ya kidding me??? Then I didn't even get the chicken with my salad. ARGH! I didn't complain because this chick was seriously so dumb, I don't think she would have understood me anyway. LOL.

So, I ended up paying $16 for a ceasar salad that was DRENCHED in dressing and pretty disgusting and to hear my coworkers basically objectify women to the Nth degree and ignore me for the most part.

Every woman we ran into at that place had an IQ of a box of rocks. I'm not kidding.

Not only am I completely depressed about my own body, but I'm also looking at my Engineer coworkers in a new and not so good light. Really, guys? Because half of their boobs were hanging out you think this was the greatest place ever? I'm seriously down on men right now.

I need to drop about 40 pounds and about 30 IQ points, apparently, if I want to get a man. :roll: Jesus.

greetings to you. i have read your above, and attached post qouted above, and i am so sorry you had to endure that insensitivity. i've read many of your posts here, and you are a very nice lady with much to offer, and contribute to any social situation be it dating or just general discussion.

i understand that we don't know each other, and i am not trying to butt in on anything but i just had to tell you how i felt about your post as well as all of your other ones too. my initial reaction when reading about your luncheon is anger. then i read TreePixie's post here about your luncheon. she's right on in her analysis i believe.

in addition, i would have to say that you being there with them surely provides further insight as to who/how those men really are. as difficult as it would be to sit there, and endure such juvenile behavior, it surfaces in obvious fashion that there are none of them worthy of any of your time to begin with. those types sometimes never ever grow up.

simply in reading your many valuable posts here i can surmise this confidently. please do not beat yourself up about that event as you are most certainly above it, and above them.

I didn't hear H say ALL men are bad. It's like the fat thread all over again... Where we need to say some not all. Statistically, men are more likely to commit sexual violence, much more likely. No one says that all men are but there is a crisis of m to f sexual violence and to ignore the fact that most perps are male is ridiculous. How are we meant to tackle the issue of why SOME men do these things if we aren't allowed to point out what gender like 90% (don't have the figures but pretty sure it's higher) of perps are?!

If I have to endure the bs of some not all then when isn't applied when women speak about men? Just saying. Secondly if you read her posts as of late there is a blanket blaming of men as a whole. She has said that MEN cause the problems of the world and when women were in charge the world was a better place. She constantly creates an us vs them mentality.

The reason you can't just leave it at men is because the picture is painted as if men in general either do it and/or support it.
Its like hearing bm ages 20 to 30 populate the majority of the prisons. It creates a false impression that the majority of black men 20 to 30 go to prison. See the difference?
